I decided to start my own 2013 Personal Revelation Revolution.
What I'm thinking about today:
Sarah Ban Breathnach writes in her book "Simple Abundance" about choosing financial serenity over financial security.
Yes, please! was my first thought on this. I always seem to worry about money. Not that we really struggle with it. I can't complain at all, but there always seems to be the feeling that it's not enough.
I wish I had the ability to measure our/my worth differently than in money, but it just seems to prevail more often than not. What do we really *need*? I know we have everything we need and then some...
Personally, I have no problem not buying something or waiting to buy something or just scaling back. Discipline is my middle name. However, how do you implement financial serenity in a family where someone always wants the newest gadget or another itunes card or or or...?
Maybe I'm just too worried about how I can make my kids and husband want to choose serenity over security (is that even a possible choice in today's world?). With all the books and essays I have read about changing myself vs. changing others I should really know it by now - I have to start with myself and not only that. I also should not expect for others to follow suit because I'm doing it.
So here's to financial serenity over security!
