Writing Prompts? No, Thanks!

What to write about, what to write about... All those ideas in my head, vividly playing like a movie even, yet when it comes to putting it down on paper (my blog, really)... nothing. Not a single thing. So I go and google writing prompts. I check a gazillion writing prompt pins on Pinterest. I ask my husband what to write about ("Whatever you want, babe" is a good answer to give to your wife when it comes to picking a place to vacation or buying a new computer - but not a good answer when she asks you what to write about. A is for Appendix

Do you know the story of The Princess and the Pea by Hans Christian Andersen? It's a fairy tale about a young girl having to prove that she is a princess. The proof is delivered by a pea. To be a bit more specific: the girl sleeps on a bed with many many mattresses layered on top of each other, and at the very bottom of the pile is a pea. After spending the night on that contraption, she is exhausted; the pea made the bed so uncomfortable, that she could not find any rest. For the king, it's proof enough: the girl is a real princess.

I'm so glad I don't have to do this anymore...

This morning, as I was browsing through my timeline on Facebook, I found myself thinking: "I'm so glad I don't have to do this anymore." and "I'm so glad I don't have to deal with this anymore."

Earlier this week, I read my friend Alison's post about being cool with transitions. She talks about celebrating her kids' milestones and abilities as they grow older, and I found myself nodding along, thinking that I would never want my kids to be little again (shudder).
