Celebrate2015 - January Round-Up

January is a wrap and I'm right back where I was at the end of each month in 2014: wondering what the heck happened and where time went. I didn't forget to celebrate though, I just didn't think I'd have to write about it so soon....

(If you don't know what I'm talking about, you can read about Celebrate2015 right here.)

Recipe for Humble Pie

I already featured the recipe for Humble Pie on my business blog (when that was still a separate website), and it was one of my favourite posts - so here it is again...

Eating a slice - or two - of Humble Pie is an experience every entrepreneur should have. In fact, I think it should be a regular part of the menu for everyone. It's great to remind ourselves of a few things: a) there are other people, who are just as dedicated and hard-working as we are; b) there is more than one way to do things...

Life didn't go as planned and that's okay

A few days ago, I saw this picture in my timeline (from Karen Salmansohn's page ).

And it made me think.

Because it really spoke to me.

Maybe not so much the "my whole life" part, because I don't like to be dramatic; but there were a few plans, that didn't pan out.

And it's true - I am okay with it. More than okay. Because otherwise I certainly would not be where I'm at now.

When I was six years old, my favourite aunt married an American soldier. Their wedding reception was at my great-grandmas's house, and I remember being fascinated by him. I kept staring, trying to understand at least some of what he was saying, but I had just started school and English was not on the curriculum until Grade 5.

I won't...

I took some time in December to think about my goals for 2015 - for my business and my life. It's hard to separate the two, really (and I am not even trying to). Finding my goals and writing them down was not easy (and I may or may not be entirely done), but it didn't take long to figure out what I don't want to do anymore.

Once I had my list of "I don't want to do this anymore" written down, I looked over it. Something bothered me. "I don't want to" just didn't seem like a commitment to me - so I changed it to "I won't", and it made all the difference.

Celebrate 2015

In my last Experience2014 post, I revealed my word for 2015: celebrate.

I wrote that word down on July 15th, 2014 - while I was sitting at my desk, feeling completely overwhelmed with how fast my freelance business was growing.

I love being busy and I love being in business for myself, but I hadn't expected this kind of growth. Talk about growing pains!

Of course I didn't write "celebrate" down at that time, because that's what I felt like. I wrote it down, because I promised myself that I would take charge (after all, it's my business!) and handle the situation like a boss. I knew that once I'd have all my ducks in a row and would feel like I've set my direction and know where I want to take my business, I would feel like celebrating.

And guess what - feel like celebrating I do.

2014 in 12 pictures

Confession: I spend way to much time pondering the past.

That's probably why I'm a big fan of year-end-reviews. It's just that I usually get caught up in them too much, trying to analyze every detail. And that almost always sucks the joy out of it. While there were definitely moments in 2014 that could use some analyzing (probably by a psychiatrist), I am so excited about 2015, that I've decided to only pick the joyful moments of 2014 - and what better way than with pictures?

Linking up with my friend Laura at Mommy Miracles - here we go:
